North York's commercial map
Commercial electrical contractor for North York offices, retail and restaurants
North York's businesses follow its arterial roads. Strip plazas line Yonge, Sheppard, Finch, Bathurst and Dufferin. Each is a row of small units: a pharmacy, a dry cleaner, a restaurant, a dentist.
Around Yonge and Sheppard and North York Centre, office towers and mixed-use buildings hold professional offices and medical suites. Toward Downsview there is light industrial and warehouse space, with heavier equipment and longer runs.
We work for North York businesses and buildings across the area. Every job is led by Shaldin Marrast, a Master Electrician who started his career at Toronto Hydro.
Turnover keeps the panels busy
Plaza units change use often. A clothing store becomes a takeout restaurant; an insurance office becomes a physiotherapy clinic. Each change brings new equipment and lighting, and often a panel that no longer suits the business inside.
Tenant fit-outs
A fit-out is where a unit's electrical is reset for its next business. We work from the designer's drawings and the landlord's rules, add the circuits and lighting the new use needs, and confirm the unit's panel can carry them. ESA inspects at rough-in and at the end, where the job calls for both.

Food service
Restaurants in plaza units
North York has a deep mix of restaurants, some in plaza units first built for retail. A commercial kitchen brings cooking equipment, walk-in coolers, freezers and exhaust hoods, and each needs the right circuit.
We size circuits from the equipment spec sheets and check the unit's service can carry them. Then we schedule rough-in and inspection so the electrical isn't what holds up opening day.
Condo towers and their managers
The towers along Yonge in Willowdale, and around Bayview Village, need steady common-area work. Corridor and garage lighting, exterior fixtures and suite repairs are booked through management, with residents given notice.
Requests for EV charging in underground garages keep growing. Each one starts with the building's spare capacity, the same question behind EV chargers in North York homes, only bigger.
Larger fit-outs and base-building jobs usually run through a general contractor. We work as their electrical trade, from temporary power to final inspection; see our work for North York contractors.

Questions
Commercial electrician in North York: questions
We're opening a restaurant in a North York plaza. Can the unit's service handle our kitchen?
Sometimes, but check before you sign or order equipment. We compare your equipment list with the unit's panel and service. If it falls short, the options include a larger service from Toronto Hydro, which needs the landlord's agreement, or changing the equipment mix.
Can you work overnight in an office building at Yonge and Sheppard?
Yes, where the building allows it. Most office buildings set rules for after-hours access, freight elevators and electrical room keys. We arrange those with property management ahead of time so the work fits the window you're given.
In a plaza fit-out, who pays for the electrical: the tenant or the landlord?
The lease decides. Commonly the tenant pays for work inside the unit, and the landlord handles the main service and shared equipment. We can price the two scopes separately so each party sees its own share.
Our cooler lost power overnight. What should we do?
Switch off the affected breaker if it's safe to reach, and move stock to another cooler if you can. Then call our line, which is answered 24/7. Tell us what the equipment is and what you saw. We'll tell you when we can be there and what to do in the meantime.
