For general contractors

What we take on

  • Temporary power for construction sites and renovations
  • Load calculations and service sizing
  • Electrical design, drawings and documentation, working with certified electrical engineers where a project needs them
  • Rough-in wiring, ready for ESA rough-in inspection
  • Service entrance, panels and sub-panels
  • Lighting layouts, pot lights and feature lighting
  • EV charger rough-ins and generator-ready panels
  • Final connections, devices, ESA final inspection and sign-off

Why builders keep working with us

  • One point of contact. Netsayi handles scheduling, so your site superintendent always knows when we're coming.
  • On schedule. Two crews let us keep pace with framing and drywall rather than holding them up.
  • Permits handled. We file with ESA and book inspections at each stage.
  • Clean finish. Our customers notice the finishing: tidy panels, straight runs, and devices that line up.

Before we start

What helps us quote a build accurately

A firm electrical price on a new build or major renovation depends on a few documents. The more of these you can send with the request, the tighter our number.

  1. Architectural drawingsFloor plans and elevations, ideally with the lighting and device layout if the designer has one
  2. Mechanical scheduleHeat pump or furnace, air handler, water heater and any electric heating, because they drive the service size
  3. Appliance listRange, cooktop, ovens, dryer and anything else on a 240-volt circuit
  4. ExtrasEV charger, standby generator, hot tub, pool equipment, a secondary suite or a garage sub-panel
  5. ScheduleWhen framing finishes and when drywall is booked, so rough-in fits between them

If drawings aren't ready yet, we can still give a budget figure from the square footage and the main loads, then firm it up once the plans are final. See permits and load calculations for how we size the service.

At handover

  • Labelled panel

Every circuit identified, so the owner and future trades know what's what.

  • ESA Certificate of Acceptance

Proof the installation passed inspection, which lenders, insurers and buyers ask for.

  • Clean finish

Devices level, plates straight, and no loose ends left for the painter.

How a build runs

Our stages on a new build

The same sequence ESA inspects against, so nothing gets closed in early.

  1. Design and load calculation

Service size, panel schedule and lighting layout agreed with you and your client.

  2. Temporary power

Safe site power from day one.

  3. Rough-in and inspection

Wiring and boxes in before insulation, inspected by ESA.

  4. Service and panel

Permanent service connected and the panel built out.

  5. Finishing and final

Devices, fixtures and final connections, then ESA final inspection and the Certificate of Acceptance.

What customers say

"Like they never had to run conduit"

Have done business with this company twice now once for a panel & subpanel replacement and most recently for a few extra circuits. They were excellent both times, on time with quality, neat & certified work. Great contractor to deal with!

Chris M.Google review · Panel, subpanel and new circuits

Marrast Contracting was a life saver -- actually a Xmas saver! All our outdoor plugs weren't working and [Shaldin] found the reset circuit (which was hidden) that allowed us to put up lights and trees for Christmas. [Shaldin] also provided us with a quote on cleaning up our horribly organized electrical panel and he also provided his recommendation on a couple of other electrical issues. He was on time, professional, friendly, and really knew his stuff. We'd definitely contract him again.

Kimberly S.Google review · Outdoor outlets and panel advice

I had a fantastic experience with Marrast Contracting. They handled all of the electrical work for both my kitchen renovation and duplex conversion, and the quality of their work was excellent.

Marrast helped us with the panel upgrade, they were professional and fast. Will hire again for sure. Thanks a lot to the team

Over the years I have used a lot of contractors but these guys are simply the best. Full end to end service, I did not have to worry about a thing. Design, layout, permit, installation, patching, painting, etc. After completion, it was like they never had to run electrical conduits and cables throughout my house.

Hilton R.Google review · Design, permit and installation

Shaldin installed new pot lights in my condo and I'm thrilled with his work. Netsayi was also delightful to deal with for scheduling. I would recommend Marrast Contracting - fair pricing, solid work, with both clear and effective communication throughout.

Questions

New construction for builders: common questions

Do you work with general contractors and builders?

Yes. A large share of our work is for general contractors and custom home builders, from temporary power and rough-in through to final connections and ESA sign-off. Two crews mean we can keep to your schedule on larger projects.

Do you take out the ESA permit?

Yes. In Ontario, the licensed contractor files the notification of work with the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) and books the inspection. We handle it on every job that needs one, and you get the ESA Certificate of Acceptance when the work passes. Keep it: insurers and home buyers often ask for it.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Marrast Contracting is a Licensed Electrical Contractor, licence ECRA/ESA 7016430, and every job is led by Shaldin Marrast, a Master Electrician. You can check our licence on the Electrical Safety Authority's contractor lookup at esasafe.com.

Is your work guaranteed?

Every job comes with our 1-year workmanship warranty. Products carry their own manufacturer warranties on top of that, and standby generators can be covered by extended manufacturer warranties.

To price your job, send us

  • Architectural or electrical drawings, or a scope of work
  • The project type and rough square footage
  • The electrical services and specifications you need
  • The project location and planned start date
