Licensed electrician in Caledon
Caledon is two places at once: fast-growing subdivisions in Bolton and Mayfield West, and farms, estates and hamlets along the Escarpment. We wire both, from standby generators for homes on wells to new circuits and EV chargers in brand-new houses.
Electrical work in Caledon
A big town with rural wiring needs
Caledon covers a large part of northern Peel Region, and most of it is still countryside: farms, horse properties, country estates and hamlets such as Belfountain, Inglewood, Cheltenham and Palgrave. Growth is concentrated in a few places. Bolton keeps expanding, Caledon East has new streets, and Mayfield West, near the Brampton border, is one of the busiest areas of new construction in the town.
Outside those settlement areas, many homes rely on private wells and septic systems, and long rural power lines make outages more likely to last. That changes what a family needs from an electrician. A standby generator isn't a luxury when losing power also means losing water, and a well-planned service has to feed the house, a detached garage, maybe a barn or workshop, and a car charger.
Most of Caledon is supplied by Hydro One, and building permits come from the Town of Caledon. The electrical permit is filed with the Electrical Safety Authority by us.
Rural properties
What a country property asks of its wiring
The common jobs on Caledon's rural roads, and why they come up.
Well pump on the generator
A standby generator sized to start the well pump, so the taps keep running in an outage.
Sump pumps that can't stop
Basements near creeks and wetlands that flood within hours if the sump pump loses power.
Feeds to outbuildings
Buried feeders and sub-panels for barns, workshops, detached garages and pool houses.
Long cable runs
Distances that need larger conductors so equipment at the far end gets the voltage it needs.
Older farmhouse wiring
Original homes extended over decades, with circuits added wherever there was room.
Surge exposure
Long overhead lines and summer storms, which make whole-home surge protection worth considering.
Backup power
Standby generators for homes on wells
We install standby generators as an authorized Generac dealer. On a rural Caledon property, sizing starts with the essentials that have to keep working: the well pump, furnace or boiler, sump pump, fridge and freezer, and enough lighting and outlets to live normally. Some owners want the whole house backed up, including air conditioning; others prefer a smaller unit on selected circuits. We show you both options.
Placement matters too. The generator needs proper clearances from windows, doors and lot lines, a gas supply sized for it, and a short, protected run to the transfer switch. We plan all of that at the site visit. See our standby generator service for the details.
Bolton, Caledon East and Mayfield West
New homes, finished basements and chargers
In Caledon's newer subdivisions, homes usually arrive with a 200 amp service and very little else. The first projects owners call about are a Level 2 EV charger in the garage, pot lights on the main floor, and circuits for a finished basement. Commuting from Caledon is a long drive, which makes a home charger especially useful.
In Bolton's older core and the town's original farmhouses, the work is more often a panel upgrade or full home rewiring, planned around the family living in the house.

What customers say
Reviews from our customers
Shaldin and his team did a fantastic job replacing my 150A breaker panel with a 200A, and installing my Tesla charger. He was responsive via phone and text during the quoting stage and negotiated fairly and in good faith. Excellent communicator! He contacted the power company and helped arrange for disconnect. He is licensed and insured and provided proof. The installation proceeded without too many hiccups, and he honoured the lump sum pricing, even though the time to complete the install exceeded the estimated time. When changes were required to the scope of work, he asked for my approval before commencing, and we agreed on a fair price for the extra work.
We are very pleased with the EV power installation at our home. The work was done in a timely and professional manner. [Shaldin] and his team provided excellent guidance regarding our best options. The friendly helpful service made it a very positive experience.
I can't say enough to recommend Shaldin and his team at Marrast Contracting. They handled my condo renovation with ease and the end result is gorgeous! A huge thank-you to Netsayi who helped with the design, provided tons of options, sourced fixtures and gave expert advice throughout. Every stage of this reno was done with extreme care and professionalism, and I would hire them again and again.
I hired Marrast to install a junction box in a porch enclosure. Shaldin was very professional and personable. He and his apprentice completed the job efficiently and cleanly. Additionally, Shaldin went above and beyond by covering up a half-exposed, unused old junction box. Their work was highly professional, and I would definitely recommend them.
Shaldin was great to work with - friendly, responsive and communicative. Arrived on time and service was completed promptly after verifying the 240V lines from our appliances to the breaker panel.
[Shaldin] and his apprentice from Marrast Contractors installed a new expanded 220 electrical breaker box at our home. Their professional knowledge and pride they took in their work impressed me greatly and I would recommend them for any electrical and/or renovation projects.
Questions
Caledon electrical questions
My home is on a well. What happens when the power goes out?
A private well pump runs on electricity, so an outage usually means no running water as well as no lights or heat. A standby generator with an automatic transfer switch keeps the well pump, furnace, sump pump and fridge running. We include the pump's starting load when we size the generator, because a large motor needs much more power for a moment as it starts.
Can you run power to a barn, workshop or detached garage?
Yes. Outbuildings on rural properties usually need a buried feeder from the house panel to a sub-panel in the building, sized for the tools, heaters or equipment you'll use there. Before we dig, we arrange utility locates through Ontario One Call. The work is permitted and inspected by ESA like any other.
Is there a travel charge for Caledon?
Caledon is outside the city, so jobs include travel time. It's shown on the written quote before you book.
What size generator do I need?
It depends on what you want running during an outage. Some homeowners back up essentials only (furnace, sump pump, fridge, a few lights and outlets). Others want the whole house. We look at your panel and how you use power, then recommend a size and a transfer switch to match.
Do you take out the ESA permit?
Yes. In Ontario, the licensed contractor files the notification of work with the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) and books the inspection. We handle it on every job that needs one, and you get the ESA Certificate of Acceptance when the work passes. Keep it: insurers and home buyers often ask for it.
