Privacy policy
Your privacy is extremely important to us. The trust our customers place in us is essential to our success, and we do all we can to earn and protect it.
Draft for review before launch.
Our promise
We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't collect information we don't need. We use what you give us to answer your request, do the work you hire us for and keep the records the law asks us to keep.
This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us handle it and the choices you have. It applies to this website, to the forms on it, and to calls, texts and emails with Marrast Contracting (operated by 1000407795 Ontario Ltd.) in Ontario. We follow Canada's privacy law for businesses, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and Canada's anti-spam law (CASL) for messages.
What we collect
When you send a form (a quote request, a message or a call-back), we collect what you enter:
- your name and, if you give it, your business name
- your phone number and, if you give it, your email address
- the area and, if you give it, the address of the job
- the services you pick, the details you write and any photos or documents you attach
- whether you ticked the box to receive updates and offers
With each form we also record the page you sent it from, the date and time, and your internet (IP) address. We keep these so we have an accurate record of your request and, if you agreed to messages, of that consent.
When you call, text or email us, our phone and email systems keep a record of the conversation: your number or email address, the time, and the messages themselves.
When we do work for you, we keep what the job needs: the address, what we found and did, photos of the work, quotes, invoices, payments, and the permit and inspection records from the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA).
Address suggestions
When you start typing an address in a form, the letters you type are sent to an address lookup service so it can suggest matching addresses and places. Today that service is Photon, which uses OpenStreetMap data; we may switch to Google's address service. The lookup sees only the text you type, not your name or other details, and we don't keep your search unless you send the form.
Cookies and browser storage
This website doesn't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels, and it doesn't use analytics today. If we add analytics (for example, to see which pages are most useful), we'll update this policy first.
The site saves one small note in your browser: that you closed the current-offer box, so it doesn't keep reappearing. It never leaves your device. Clearing your browser data removes it.
How we use your information
- to reply to your request, call you back, and prepare a quote
- to schedule, carry out, inspect and invoice the work
- to send you confirmations and reminders about your job
- to honour our workmanship warranty and answer questions about past work
- to meet our legal duties, including ESA permit records and tax records
- to protect our customers, our crews and this website from fraud and misuse
We use your information only for the purposes we explain here, or for a purpose you agree to at the time.
Texts, emails and offers
After you send a request, we text and email you to confirm it and to arrange the job. These messages are about the service you asked for.
We send updates, offers and seasonal reminders only if you tick the box on our form (or tell us you'd like them). That box is never ticked for you. You can stop these messages at any time: reply STOP to a text, use the unsubscribe link in any email, or ask us. We act on it within 10 business days. Message and data rates may apply.
Who we share it with
We share your information only with service providers who help us run the business, and only what they need. They may use it only to provide their service to us.
- HighLevel: our customer records, phone, text and email system, which receives the forms on this site
- Cloudflare: hosts this website and passes form submissions securely to HighLevel
- Address lookup: suggests addresses as you type (see above)
- MoFluent: our marketing and website partner, which manages these systems for us
- our accountant and bookkeeping software, for invoices and tax records
We also share information when the law requires it, for example with the Electrical Safety Authority for a permit, or with a utility such as Toronto Hydro or Alectra Utilities to book a disconnect and reconnect for your service.
Where your information is stored
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Canada, mostly in the United States. While it's there, it may be subject to the laws of that country, including access by its courts and authorities. We choose providers with strong security and contracts that limit how they use your information.
How long we keep it
If you send a request and we don't go ahead, we keep it for up to two years, then delete it, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. If we do work for you, we keep the job record for at least seven years, to cover our warranty, ESA records and the business records the Canada Revenue Agency requires us to keep.
How we protect it
The website sends forms over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to customer records is limited to our team and is protected by passwords. Photos and documents you attach are stored with your customer record, not on this website. No system is perfectly secure, but if something ever went wrong that put your information at real risk, we would tell you and report it as the law requires.
Your rights and choices
You can ask us at any time to:
- see the personal information we hold about you
- correct anything that's wrong
- delete your information, where we don't need to keep it by law or for your warranty
- stop sending you updates and offers
Email or call us using the details below. We'll answer within 30 days. If you're not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
Children
This website is meant for adults arranging electrical work. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 16.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page if anything here changes, and change the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information we already hold, we'll tell you before it applies to you.
