Estate electrical work on the Bridle Path
The Bridle Path's large homes on big, treed lots need electrical systems sized and planned for their scale. We handle services, long feeds, generators and lighting for owners, builders and estate managers.
The neighbourhood
Why the Bridle Path is its own kind of job
The Bridle Path is in the east part of North York, near Bayview Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East. It is known for some of the largest homes and lots in the city, with ravines and parkland close by.
The houses span several decades. Some date from the middle of the last century, and many have been replaced or rebuilt on a grand scale. What they share is size: long driveways, multiple wings, pools, guest houses and extensive grounds.
Scale changes the electrical work. Distances are longer, loads are bigger, and the systems are more varied. A job that takes an afternoon in a bungalow can need a full plan here.
Services and long feeds
A large estate can need more than a standard 200 amp service. Electric heating, heated driveways, pool equipment, several air handlers and EV chargers add up. The service size comes from a load calculation, and Toronto Hydro confirms what it can supply.
Power often has to travel a long way: from the street to the house, then on to a pool house, garage or gatehouse. Long runs need properly sized cable so lights do not dim and motors start cleanly. Subpanels in each building keep circuits short and easy to service.
Systems on an estate
What a Bridle Path property usually runs
Each one needs its own circuits, protection and a plan for outages.
Standby power
A generator with an automatic transfer switch, sized to the loads you choose to keep running.
Pool and spa equipment
Pumps, heaters and lighting, with the bonding and protection pools require.
Gates and long driveways
Gate operators, intercoms and driveway lighting at the end of long underground runs.
Outbuildings
Garages, pool houses and guest suites fed from subpanels.
Designed interior lighting
Pot lights, cove lighting, chandeliers and controls grouped by scene.
Landscape lighting
Paths, trees and facades on low-voltage systems and timers.
Standby power
Generators planned for a large home
On a big property, an outage affects more than the lights. Heating, sump pumps, security, refrigeration and the gate all stop. That is why standby generators are among the first things Bridle Path owners ask about.
We start by listing the loads that matter, then size the generator and transfer switch to match. On large homes, the transfer arrangement may cover more than one panel. The gas connection is done by a licensed gas fitter, and we coordinate with them. More detail is on our North York backup generator page.
Placement matters on an estate as much as anywhere. The unit needs clearances from windows and openings, and owners want it out of sight. We plan the location, the screening and the cable route together.
Lighting worth the house
Lighting in these homes is usually designed with an architect or interior designer. We follow the lighting plan, choose the right dimmers and drivers, and set up scenes so a room works at every hour.
Outside, landscape lighting brings out the facade, trees and paths. We run the feeds, place transformers and set the controls. See outdoor lighting in North York.

Reviews from our customers
I hired Marrast Contracting for a full home electrical inspection and was extremely impressed. The inspection was completed by their Master Electrician, and they provided a detailed, formal report certified under ECRA/ESA.
Marrast Contracting did an outstanding job installing my EV outlet. Shaldin and his team delivered exactly what I wanted, with minimal touch-ups needed afterwards. The process was clear, cost-effective, and I always knew what to expect. Shaldin went above and beyond to make sure I was completely satisfied. I'll definitely be turning to them again for future projects.
Have done business with this company twice now once for a panel & subpanel replacement and most recently for a few extra circuits. They were excellent both times, on time with quality, neat & certified work. Great contractor to deal with!
Marrast Contracting was a life saver -- actually a Xmas saver! All our outdoor plugs weren't working and [Shaldin] found the reset circuit (which was hidden) that allowed us to put up lights and trees for Christmas. [Shaldin] also provided us with a quote on cleaning up our horribly organized electrical panel and he also provided his recommendation on a couple of other electrical issues. He was on time, professional, friendly, and really knew his stuff. We'd definitely contract him again.
I had a fantastic experience with Marrast Contracting. They handled all of the electrical work for both my kitchen renovation and duplex conversion, and the quality of their work was excellent.
Marrast helped us with the panel upgrade, they were professional and fast. Will hire again for sure. Thanks a lot to the team
Questions
The Bridle Path electrical questions
Can a standby generator run an entire Bridle Path home?
It can, but it is not always the best plan. Whole-house backup for a very large home needs a large unit. Some owners choose to back up heating, sump pumps, security, the kitchen and key rooms instead. We look at the load and recommend the size and transfer switch arrangement that fits.
We need power to a pool house and gate far from the main house. What's involved?
A long run needs larger cable to keep voltage drop in check, usually laid underground in conduit. Often a subpanel at the outbuilding is the cleanest answer. We plan the trench route with your landscaper so it avoids trees, irrigation and hardscape.
Do you work with estate managers and household staff?
Yes. Many estates have a property manager who arranges trades. We can take requests from them, schedule around the household, and send the written quote and ESA paperwork to whoever needs it.
What size generator do I need?
It depends on what you want running during an outage. Some homeowners back up essentials only (furnace, sump pump, fridge, a few lights and outlets). Others want the whole house. We look at your panel and how you use power, then recommend a size and a transfer switch to match.
