Licensed electrician in Vaughan
Vaughan's homes are newer than most of the GTA's, but many are running out of capacity as families add EVs, finished basements and backup power. We help them grow, and we build large custom homes alongside Vaughan's builders.
Electrical work in Vaughan
Newer homes that are filling up
Most of Vaughan's housing went up from the 1980s onward. Woodbridge and Thornhill grew first, Maple followed in the 1990s, and Vellore Village, Patterson and the northern subdivisions filled in through the 2000s and 2010s. Those homes were wired to modern standards and many have 200 amp service. But they were wired for the way families lived when they were built.
Since then, a lot has been added: Level 2 chargers for one or two electric vehicles, finished basements with kitchens, heat pumps, pool equipment and hot tubs. Each addition is reasonable on its own. Together they can leave a panel with no spare spaces and a service with very little headroom, which is when breakers start to trip on the busiest evenings.
Running short
Signs a newer Vaughan home needs more capacity
No spare breaker spaces
Every slot in the panel is full and new circuits would need tandem breakers or a sub-panel.
Trips when everything runs
The main or a large breaker trips on hot afternoons or when the charger, dryer and range run together.
A charger running slow
An EV charger turned down to a lower setting because the circuit or panel couldn't support full speed.
A basement added without a plan
Basement circuits tied into existing ones during a finish, with lights dimming when the furnace or pump starts.
A heat pump on the list
Replacing gas or a central air unit with a heat pump changes the electrical load substantially.
Outdoor plans
Pool, hot tub or landscape lighting being planned without checking where the power will come from.
Backup power
Standby generators for Vaughan homes
Outages from ice storms and summer storms affect York Region like the rest of the GTA, and in a large home with a finished basement, losing the furnace or the sump pump for a day matters. A standby generator with an automatic transfer switch restarts those systems on its own within seconds of the power going out.
Larger Vaughan lots, especially in Kleinburg and the estate streets of Woodbridge, usually make siting easier. The unit still has to meet clearance rules from windows, doors, vents and lot lines, and natural gas units need a gas line connected by a licensed gas fitter. The real decision is how much of the house to back up.
For builders
Custom homes in Kleinburg and Woodbridge
Vaughan has steady custom-home building, from estate lots in Kleinburg to rebuilds in established Woodbridge streets. We work for builders and general contractors on these projects, from temporary power through rough-in, service, lighting and final. Large homes mean detailed lighting plans, multiple panels, EV-ready garages and often a generator from day one, all of which are easier to get right in the design than to add later.
Vaughan is supplied by Alectra Utilities, and building permits come from the City of Vaughan. We coordinate the electrical side with both and file every ESA permit. Concord's industrial and commercial units are part of our commercial work too.

What customers say
Reviews from our customers
My problem was a bit complicated so it took a couple of visits to diagnose the issue. Once that was determined, [Shaldin] and Mike got the parts and got to work. I was very pleased with the results and would not hesitate to contact them again for other issues.
We hired Marrast Contracting for an electrical panel 200A upgrade. The team led by Shaldin did an amazing job. Everything was described from start to finish. They contacted hydro for disconnection and reconnection at completion, obtained the permit and the job was finished on time. We gladly recommend Marrast Contracting.
Shaldin and his team did a fantastic job replacing my 150A breaker panel with a 200A, and installing my Tesla charger. He was responsive via phone and text during the quoting stage and negotiated fairly and in good faith. Excellent communicator! He contacted the power company and helped arrange for disconnect. He is licensed and insured and provided proof. The installation proceeded without too many hiccups, and he honoured the lump sum pricing, even though the time to complete the install exceeded the estimated time. When changes were required to the scope of work, he asked for my approval before commencing, and we agreed on a fair price for the extra work.
We are very pleased with the EV power installation at our home. The work was done in a timely and professional manner. [Shaldin] and his team provided excellent guidance regarding our best options. The friendly helpful service made it a very positive experience.
I can't say enough to recommend Shaldin and his team at Marrast Contracting. They handled my condo renovation with ease and the end result is gorgeous! A huge thank-you to Netsayi who helped with the design, provided tons of options, sourced fixtures and gave expert advice throughout. Every stage of this reno was done with extreme care and professionalism, and I would hire them again and again.
I hired Marrast to install a junction box in a porch enclosure. Shaldin was very professional and personable. He and his apprentice completed the job efficiently and cleanly. Additionally, Shaldin went above and beyond by covering up a half-exposed, unused old junction box. Their work was highly professional, and I would definitely recommend them.
Questions
Vaughan electrical questions
My Vaughan home is only 20 years old. Why would it need electrical work?
Usually because of what's been added, not because anything is wrong. A home built for one car, gas heat and an unfinished basement may now have two EVs, a heat pump, a finished basement and a hot tub. A load calculation shows whether the existing service can carry the new loads or needs help.
What size generator does a large Vaughan home need?
That depends on whether you want essentials or the whole house running. Large homes with several HVAC systems need a much bigger unit for whole-home backup, so many owners choose a set of essential circuits instead. We look at your panel and how you live, then recommend a size.
What size generator do I need?
It depends on what you want running during an outage. Some homeowners back up essentials only (furnace, sump pump, fridge, a few lights and outlets). Others want the whole house. We look at your panel and how you use power, then recommend a size and a transfer switch to match.
Do you work with general contractors and builders?
Yes. A large share of our work is for general contractors and custom home builders, from temporary power and rough-in through to final connections and ESA sign-off. Two crews mean we can keep to your schedule on larger projects.
Is your work guaranteed?
Every job comes with our 1-year workmanship warranty. Products carry their own manufacturer warranties on top of that, and standby generators can be covered by extended manufacturer warranties.
