Home EV charger installation in Richmond Hill
A three-car garage in South Richvale or a single driveway near the old village: either way, we fit a Level 2 charger to your house. That starts with checking what your panel can spare.
Different homes, different installs
EV charging across Richmond Hill
Richmond Hill's homes vary a lot, and so do its charger installs. A large house in Bayview Hill or South Richvale usually has a 200 amp service or more and a garage with space for several cars. There, the question is often how many chargers to plan for, not whether one will fit.
An older home near the village core or Mill Pond is a different job. The service may be 100 amps or less, the panel may be full, and there may be no garage at all. A charger is still possible, but it needs a careful load calculation and sometimes load management or an upgrade first.
Newer homes in Jefferson, Westbrook, Rouge Woods and Oak Ridges sit in between. Most have breaker panels with some room, an attached garage and a short route from the basement.
What decides the install
Four things we check in every Richmond Hill home
Spare capacity
A load calculation shows how many amps the house can give a charger without tripping the main.
Panel spaces
A charger needs a two-pole breaker. A full panel may need a sub-panel or a rearrangement.
The route
How the cable gets from the panel to the charger, through finished basements or along the outside wall.
Indoors or out
Garage installs are simplest. Driveway installs need an outdoor-rated charger and weatherproof wiring.

Rebuilds and renovations
If you're rebuilding in Bayview Hill or South Richvale, wire the garage for chargers now, even if the cars come later. A conduit or a dedicated circuit to each bay costs little during construction and avoids opening finished walls afterwards.
In an older home, a charger is often the push to replace a full or undersized panel. Doing both on the same visit saves a second trip and a second permit. See panel upgrades in Richmond Hill, or read about EV charger installation in general.
Questions
EV chargers in Richmond Hill: questions
My older Richmond Hill house has 100 amp service. Can I still install a charger?
Sometimes. A load calculation shows how much capacity the house has to spare. If it's tight, a load management device can let the charger run when the rest of the house is quiet. If there isn't enough even then, a service upgrade is the answer.
Can you wire chargers for a three-car garage?
Yes. In larger homes we often plan for two or three chargers, sometimes sharing one circuit through the chargers' own load-sharing feature. Planning them together avoids running a new cable every time a car is replaced.
Can the charger go outside, by the driveway?
Yes. Many Level 2 chargers are rated for outdoor use, and we mount them on an exterior wall or a post. The circuit and connections are weatherproofed for Richmond Hill winters.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Marrast Contracting is a Licensed Electrical Contractor, licence ECRA/ESA 7016430, and every job is led by Shaldin Marrast, a Master Electrician. You can check our licence on the Electrical Safety Authority's contractor lookup at esasafe.com.
